Question about a home mind meld

I want to transfer the disk contents of my old Classic to my new 7100, so
I'm trying to set up an AppleTalk or LocalTalk network at home.  Its 35 MB
so I'd rather not do the disk shuffle.
 
The two machines are connected by LocalTalk transceivers plugged into
their printer ports, AppleShare is on & its icon appear in Choosers but
the other mac doesn't appear as a server.  The Network & MacTCP control
panels on the 7100 are set to LocalTalk, and AppleTalk is active on both. 

 
If you happen to know what I should do, I'd sure appreciate some advice.
