Re: Freakin' Second Sight Board

<continuing on 'why fat ps leads'>

... (The same goes for any Slot holding a souped-up
12-14MHz Accelerator card which gets its power from the +12 line.)

An easier cure is to use the PC's approach. Get some 3-circuit in-line
plug/socket pairs. Splice the +5, +12, and Ground socket leads to the
power
supply leads and solder the corresponding plug leads to solid connection
points on your Second Sight, Accelerator, and RAMfast cards. With the
circuits connected, most Slot noise should be eliminated.

Interestingly, (and something I forgot to mention previously) when I have
my SS installed and connected to my VGA monitor _AND_ my GS-RGB monitor
connected to my GS internal video port, I GET THE SAME GARBAGE ON BOTH
SCREENS!!! This indicates that something is fundamentally going wrong with
the video circuitry prior to the SS grabbing it and performing its magic.

IF circuit noise is the core problem, it makes sense that all kinds of
circuits would be affected. Most likely, you also experience system
crashes.

"IF"?! All sorts of things can screw up your computer, from having a
dimmer switch on the same AC line as your IIgs to buggy software to blown
IC's. The point of the power lead fixes is that having reasonably
noise-free
juice at correct voltages is a basic requirement. If it's there, you may
still have problems; if it's not there, you WILL have problems!
