Bad keyboard (obviously) or bad cable from keyboard to motherboard.  Less 
likely, bad keyboard chip.  

Most likely cause: neglect and a liquid spill into keyboard.

Collector-wise, there is still too little value in a computer that is 
still around in the MILLIONS.  Sure, most of them are in closets or 
basements unused, but they're still out there.  Especially if it doesn't 
work right.

Now, if it's an Apple I, one of the hand-soldered deals that Steve Jobs 
and Woz put out, THAT's a collector's item.
