There are no DIP switches.

When you turn on the IIc, the firmware defaults to a specific
configuration:

Port Printer Modem

Speed 9600 bps 300 bps

Format 8 data bits 8 data bits
              No parity No parity
2 stop bits 1 stop bit

Output 80-column line width Unlimited line width
No echo to screen No echo to screen

Line Feeds Added by firmware Not added by firmware
              after each Carriage Return

Command Char Control-I Control-A

The firmware will use this configuration when it is initialized.
Programs can then override the defaults by sending commands to the
firmware. Some programs (mainly communications programs) bypass the
firmware completely, so they do not use these defaults at all.

It is also possible to change the default settings after boot by
running the Apple II System Utilities program. This provides an
option for changing the default settings of the IIc serial ports.
The new defaults will then apply to all subsequent use of the
firmware until you turn the computer off again.

The original defaults will be restored next time you turn the computer
on. The IIc has no way of permanently storing the default settings, so
you would have to run the System Utilities each time you turn on the
computer if you want different defaults.

Another possibility would be to write a special program which sets up
specific defaults for the port in question, which you run from your
boot disk. This would be slightly easier than using the System
Utilities each time.
