Earlier in this thread I said that I thought the IIgs NEWVIDEO register
was write only (and was fairly quickly corrected :) Well, I finally
found my IIgs hardware ref, and located the register I was thinking
about... it was the Mono/Color register ($C021)
 
The book docs this first as a read /write register, then later says that
it is a write only register... Indeed it is write only (and only affects
the composite video output, does nothing to the RGB output)
 
My margin notes indicate that bits 6 thru 0 should be written as zeros
with bit 7 set for greyscale output, and clear for colour.
