FingerPrint GSi & GSOS (6.0.1)

I obtained this card at a swap meet with out any docs. So far I have had 
very limited success.
When I invoke Gif.View.1.2 and try to print the screen the system crashes.
The same results occur when I shift boot and repeat the process.
However when I shut down the hard drive and boot off of a system disk and 
put Gif.View and a particular gif on a separate disk I am then able to 
print the screen.
If I reboot with the hard drive on without shift booting and go into ProTerm
and try to print the screen I am successful. Does this indicate that the 
card is more comfortable with ProDos 8 rather then GSOS and if so why am 
I able to print the screen when I boot off of a system disk. Is it the 
hard drive itself that is giving me problems even though I tried shift 
booting.
Any input would be appreciated particularly if you are able to run the 
FingerPrint card from GSOS off of a hard drive.
