Vote for the socialists much? Of course we all know that individual
profit motive is evil, right? We all know that businesses exist
only to rob the poor, right? So how DARE Adrian Vance try to
conduct commerce!! Right?

The altruist ethic runs really deep in this country. It's time
we stomped on it.

: I see that you project a professional attitude. How refreshing!
: <sarcasm>

: Seriously, your Apple II-related business must be doing fairly
: well that you can afford to insult potential customers. What's your
: secret to financial success in the Apple II market?

: It seems to me that a catalog (whether it's free or you pay for it)
: is a marketing mechanism. So it seems appropriate that you only
: post where people expect this form of solicitation, in the marketplace
: newsgroup. Also, it's not like this is a one time post, you continually
: spam the various Apple II groups on a regular basis for your commercial
: business.

You're right! There's so much traffic in the Apple II newsgroups that
cross-posting the occasional ad is just too much to bear!

Seriously, though, a lot of people only read comp.sys.apple2. A lot
of people probably don't even _know_ about the existence of the other
newsgroups.

If Adrian posted ads five times a day to all groups, that's one
thing. However, it's more like once a month. I get a pound of
junk postal mail a day, most days, and you probably do too. So,
are you harassing Adrian simply because it's easy to do so?

Let me remind you that there is _no other place_ for Apple II companies
to advertise any more (except for GEnie, and that only has a fraction of
the readership of the USEnet groups). Companies in this market
have to get the _maximum_ exposure they can, and if that means cross-posting
to the Apple II groups once a month then so be it. It's hardly going
to take years off your life to skip past an ad psoted by Adrian Vance
(especially compared to skipping past the 95% complete trash that any USEnet
group is).

Oh, and finally: when was the last time you complained about an
advertisement on csa2 that you were _interested_ in? Ah, the river
runs both ways, I am sure.

It would be a joyous day if I awoke and saw comp.sys.apple2 FLOODED
with commercial advertisements from companies providing software,
add-on hardware, and services for the Apple II. People who wish for the
exact opposite probably would better spend their time doing something
other than reading the newsgroup.
