Other orpaned Apple question...
I realize that this is comp.sys.apple2, but I've also noticed that it's a
good place to find out about other Apple products (the /// jumps to mind),
so here goes...
1. I have an Apple Lisa 2/5, with a 400k disk drive. Does anyone know
anything about the Lisa Office System file format? I'm wondering if there
might be some way to move data onto and off of Lisa disks with my IIgs,
apart from doing serial port transfers (which stink since the Lisa doesn't
support any protocol transfers at all).
2. I just acquired a piece of ancient history...a piece of Lisa software
from a friend who knew I had a Lisa. What we didn't count on was the fact
that it was shipped on an *original* Lisa disk. That's a very strange
looking 5.25" disk with two read-write ovals on each side, stuff like that.
(Remember Lisa? She came out a couple years before Macintosh, and was a
more spectacular failure than the Apple ///. Good idea, though...you can
see what it led to for Apple...Okay, not so good for the Apple ][, but you
know what I mean...)
Anyone know anything about this disk format? Is it something the Disk ][
might be able to handle, or an IBM-type drive?
Note that this is all primarily academic interest at this point (I mean,
the Lisa isn't good for a whole lot, though it has a better spreadsheet
than the one I have for the GS...) just because it is a neat computer.
Just wondering if anyone knows anything about it...
