  No.. I'd just keep the old FST around.  But you do raise a good point.
Users should either back-up their HFS volumes with old FST and restore
with new, or just be careful to keep an eye out for trouble (and keep
the old FST around).

  I don't know the exact frequency with which the problem will occur
(perhaps Dave can pipe in on this question) but I imagine it's pretty
infrequent, or it would have been tracked down before now.
I'd suspect that most HFS volumes are fine. It took 7000 files or so
before Jim Maricondo's collection of files for Golden Orchard to 
become corrupt.
