That would be too bad. (Bard's Tale/IIgs I & II are great fun.)
However, the main problem with the Bard's Tale III conversion may not be
licensing. When I tried the PC version it had a game-killer bug-- magic
user characters get messed around when advancing. As far as I know, this
problem has not been repaired. If the same bug
migrated into BH's version, he may have decided that fixing it was too
much bother.

Lots of entertainment here! Especially ...

Dragon Wars- very long-play Bard's Tale style adventure, lots of places to
explore, very good double hires graphics

Questron/ IIgs- medium play Questron sequal, good dungeons, great 'Time
Bandit' style graphics (also in a hires version)/ keep IIgs version away
from Hard Disk unless you KNOW you have the for-HD release

Keef the Thief/ IIgs- long-play, 'different', well-done magic system, very
good dungeons, very good music, R or PG-17 (twisted values)

WindWalker- long-play nominal sequal to Mobius, very good arcade 1-on-1
ninja combats, unique 'expanding horizon' double-hires graphics

Dungeon Master/IIgs- very long play multi-character dungeon adventure,
excellent 3-D graphics, graphics effects, and sound effects, excellent
maze and puzzle design, among the top games available on any platform
(also a for-kids version is included)

Curse of the Azure Bonds- SSI's long-play sequal to Pool', very good
storyline, character development, and combats

    Also, try ...

Tass Times in Tone Town/IIgs- a cute picture-text adventure

Realms of Darkness- very long play Wizardry-style adventure, so-so
graphics, lots of puzzles

Magic Candle- VERY long-play multi-character adventure, good magic system,
good 'dungeon' graphics, lots of quests and places to go (and piles of
notes to keep)

Wizardry V: Heart of the Maelstrom- VERY long-play dungeon adventure,
standard so-so Wiz graphics, very good magic system, loads of neat puzzles
(mapping is not difficult but it is necessary)

Tangled Tales- long-play multi-character adventure, good graphics, lots of
quests and characters to meet

Ultima III- long-play multi-character adventure, good graphics and
MockingBoard effects/music, many dungeons and cities to explore

Champions of Krynn- SSI long-play AD&D adventure, good graphics and
storyline, excellent combats (also try Dark Queen of Krynn, Secret of the
Silver Blades, Pools of Darkness, ...)

Eternal Dagger- long-play sequal to Wizard's Crown, very good weapons
system, good combats

Enchanter & Sorcerer- long-play, excellent Zorkian TEXT adventuring

Plundered Hearts- medium-play, very good TEXT pirate adventure, PG-17
('adult situations')
