You have to put the stupid midi driver from the Music Studio disk in your Drivers folder. This is an old midi driver, so what I did was to put Music Studio on a non-boot partition on my HD, make a SYSTEM folder on it, put a DRIVERS folder in there, and place the midi driver from the Music Studio disk in there. Walla! No more crashes and lack of music. Try that.
