Any-1 use the flatbed
Hi, all.
At work (I work for a newspaper) there is this Apple flatbed scanner called
simply "Apple Scanner" - think it was built in 86 but it was used up until this
year.
It was used solely on Macs, and started to cause trouble once we introduced
Power Macs and sys 7.5s to the office.
(Of course, secretly, I am an Apple IIgs fan (with two at home, including my
durable Woz 512k Rom 00)
So, the publisher bought a new scanner and there's this Apple Scanner just
lying around. Since it was built in 86, I have to assume that it was also
intended to be used with the IIgs and Applescan, the sw we used with the Mac,
also had an Apple version.
I do mucho desktop publishing out of my home (I have a literary magazine) and a
durable scanner like this would be nice. I'm sure I'd have to up my megabyte
and get a larger HD to store images...and getting the thing to print to my HP
DJ 500 will take some
toying.
But getting the scanner for free (and selling this waste o' space cd rom drive)
will be nice.
Anyway, after that long editorial, let me ask if anyone has used the above
scanner with a IIgs and what difficulties they had or forsee with me.
And does anyone have a copy of Applescan around for me? I don't think I can
use my Vitesse Quickie Scanner sw.
Was there any other lay-out sw that would work with this Apple Scanner?
If this scanner came out in 86 there must be Apple IIe 5.25" sw for it too,
which would mean maybe even the Woz 00 could do a scan in an emergency!
And would my Apple SCSI rev c card handle this scanner?
Thanks!
