Ciao,
I do this all the time using Appleworks V3 and Clarisworks V3. It is so
transparent that I almost forget how to do it. I write articles for the club
newsletter on my IIGS using Appleworks (Clasic) v3 (I understand newer
versions of Appleworks published by Quality Computer might not be compatible-
make sure we are talking about classic appleworks not Appleworks GS). I
usually save the file to a prodos formatted disk, quit to the finder and then
copy the file to a HFS formatted disk, then I sneaker net the disk over to
the Mac and load in Clarisworks. I load the file directly into Clarisworks,
the program does the conversion "on the fly". Another way you could do this
is to save the Appleworks file to a prodos 800K disk and then sneakernet the
file to the Mac and use AFE (Apple File Exchange) to convert the file from
ProDos to HFS format. Then run Clarisworks and load the file as described
before.
Hope this helps- I have never run across the message you describe...for me
every things runs as easy as it could be. I use this method for both
Spreadsheets, word processors and database files originally created with
Appleworks V3.0. My MacIntosh program of choice is Clarisworks-it works
fine for what I need to do.
