ImageWriter ribbon re-inkers?

Has anybody had experience they could share with me regarding re-inking
of IW ribbons? I've seen ads in old magazines for devices that do this.
I'm not even sure if any of them are still in business.

We used to get our ribbons here at LACOSS for free from the County
Office. But, they have eliminated almost all of their IW printers in
favor of LaserWriters. Plus, they have changed the procedures so that we
need to get our own office supplies (no more raiding the supplies
closet). Since I have been buying our own ribbons, I have started to
notice how many of them we go through in a year. Hence the interest in
re-inkers. Do these gizmos really work? Does a re-inked ribbon last as
long as a new one? What are the costs involved? Is the quality of
output from a re-inked ribbon indestinguishable from a new one? Sources?

Any help very much appreciated. Greg
