hi all... after not being involved in the apple // world for quite a
few years, my hobby of picking up and playing with old (and cheaply
available) systems recently brought a //e and //gs to my apartment.
the //gs is a woz model, rom 01. for the heck of saying so, it has a
memory expansion card (four banks of 16 chips, so i would hazard it's
an old 1meg board) and a scsi adapter.
anyway. i dropped a disk ][ controller into slot 6 which i know
works, and hung a working disk ][ off of it. i pulled out the scsi
and memory card for the time being, plugged up a mono monitor, and
started it up. it didn't spin the drive, but it gave me the start
screen (apple //gs, rom version, etc).
i did a self test, and it coughed up 'system bad: 06010000'.
does anyone know what this means, and where i should start looking to
fix it? my initial guess is a bus problem, which i'm hoping against
as that would seem to imply needing a new motherboard.
thanks in advance!
ian
