Apple II Conference
Hello out there,
Once a year Apple and Macintosh user groups get together to discuss the
health of our user groups, share tips on how to keep groups alive and growing,
and decide where next to hold such a meeting. The group is called NAUGSAW.
NAUGSAW is not a formal organization. It represents the collective efforts
of the Apple and Macinthosh user groups community to keep in touch with one
another. The annual meeting enables us to get together and share ideas or
provide assistance; talk with vendors; and disucss the state of the computing
world as we see it.
Historically, the acroynm stood for the National Apple User Groups, but
because the meeting was held in Toronto, it was changed (this year) to North
American User Group Symposium and Workshop.
In the past Apple, Inc and commercial vendors helped to underwrite the cost.
This year the User Group Store, the User Group Connection and commercial
vendors helped defray expenses. [if you have never heard of UGC, let me know
and I will connect you with them]
The reason for this post is to find out if anyone reading this has:
===> ever heard of NAUGSAW or knows what it is about;
===> if by some chance you have heard of it, have you ever attended
one of their conferences;
===> is there anything they could do to attract you as an
Apple II user/user group to attend the next conference.
The next NAUGSAW conference will be held in Dallas, Texas in June, 1996.
Dallas has active Apple II groups. Washington Apple Pi has an active Apple
II and III component. We have told the sponsoring user groups in the Dallas
area that we are willing to work with them to support an active Apple II/III
presence at their conference, if there is interest. Washington Apple Pi was
asked to do it in Detroit at the 1993 conference and we did it. There is _no_
reason why Apple II groups or individuals can't show up in Dallas and do it
there. We are not short of things to talk about!
I need some clues from you as to whether there is interst in:
===> coming
===> helping
===> or, forget it
One possibility would be to invite KANSASFEST to join NAUGSAW and hold their
summer jamfest in "Big D". That should reduce their costs somewhat and
possibly attract a larget audience.
Give me some clues _now_, while there is time to do something!

P.S. anyone want to organize a pilgrimage to the old Applied Engineering
