Eventually, SuperConverter (commercial, older versions share- or freeware) can
do the trick. It supports various picture formats found on PCs, Amiga, Mac and
of course Apple II (incl. 3200 color pics)

Hires pics are pure memory images of the memory range $2000-$3FFF or
$4000-$5FFF.
GIFs are way more complex - the full specs must be on the net. (Anyone knows
where?) The current format is GIF89a, I think.
