Hmmm...odd combination of groups this is being directed to...suffice it to
say that it's coming from comp.sys.apple2, but has more to do with Usenet
than with any of the listed groups.

The question was, why so much crap filtering into the newsgroups.

The easy answer is that school just started, and there are some folks out
there who have nothing better to do then spam the 'net with the same tired
old tripe (i.e. "MAKE MONEY FAST") that reappears every year at about this
time.

A second easy answer is that MSN.COM just went on-line, thrusting a whole
collection of new users into cyberspace who have nothing better to do than
argue about/complain about/defend/talk up/sing praises of Windows '95.

In both cases, the best...in fact, the only...solution seems to be to
ignore the offending messages.  It will clean up before too long.  It
always does.

Incidentally, all of the newsgroups I subscribe to are filled with a
certain amount of this crap, except for the two I read the most.  I guess
those (which I won't name here...I like the high signal-to-noise ratio
there) groups are pretty low on the spam list...

I now return you to your regularly scheduled newsgroups...
