Just thought I'd add my two cents: I think both Windows (IBM) and the
MacOS is cool, although they have two very different applications. I
worked for a support center this summer, and we had a very hard time
keeping up with all the questions/problems that Windows raised. I
personally feel that the IBM is great for people who like to have more
control over their computer and who like "messing" with computers.
The Macintosh, on the other hand, is extremely user-friendly, very
easy to maintain, and has excellent graphics. If our corporation
consisted soley of Macintoshes, I would have been out of a job :)
Every time a new hard drive/printer/CD-ROM/anything was attached,
the autoexec.bat and config.sys had to be changed. The Mac, otoh, is
very "Plug-and-play" oriented.
I have found that the Apple IIGS is an excellent mixture of these two
computers. It's not as difficult to maintain as the IBM's are, and
is powerful enough for most everything I need to do here at college.
The right computer for the job.
