Protem....pass thru printing?

Hi, I currently use a unix account as my internet connection, and often I 
like to use the unix command "lp" to print out documents to my local printer.

well it was no problem when I used kermit as my term program, but since 
then I have started using proterm, z-link and agate. all Of which I have 
noticed dont print to my local printer. They go through the...
"passthrough printing...."

"printing done"
but nothing happened!

any ideas as if I have to configure my term program, or maybe it just 
doesnt allow it?
