   Been there, done that, Dr. Tom's a crazy liar. As I posted a readme
for one of his VAMPS disks yesterday, he posts exactly what he thinks
you should be hearing. He has been claiming 3D sound and other garbage
for at least 3 years now, but here's the kicker: only he and a few
cronies can hear such things, possibly only with the aid of controlled
substances.

   I'm not disputing that top sound labs may be able to do fun stuff
to sounds, it's the claims by this so-called Dr. Tom that he is able
to do such things. Checking the raw binary images on the VAMPS disk,
his player is binary identical to the FTA's player from a few years
ago, and the instruments in the ripped MODs are also binary identical
to the original MODs. With _zero_ changes to the originals, do you
think that Dr. Tom has done any "3D psychoacoustic remixing" to the
music, or has he claimed a load of horsehockey?

   I could claim that a program that I wrote makes your GS runs at 200
MHz, act like it has 32 processors and a gigabyte of memory, and has a
cold fusion generator so it never uses any more power from the wall.
That claim is obviously and trivially disproved by running it. Same
with Dr. Tom.

   Care to prove a word of that, other than "giving it away free?"
Using buzzwords does not make you an expert. Results count, and Dr.
Tom couldn't get 5 people picked off the street in a double-blind test
to agree on anything other than the fact that Dr. Tom has very bad
taste in music.

   We've challenged Dr. Tom to give us _one_ song that demonstrates
all of his effects, and write down _exactly_ the effects we should
hear. He has enough sense to know he'd lose such a challenge very
quickly, and has never done that. The offer still stands, but he's
too much of a chicken to do something that'll make him have to eat
humble pie.

   Bottom line to Dr. Tom and his friends:
WE WANT PROOF.
OR, SHADDUP.
