The obvious solution to THAT problem is to make the thing Second-Sight
aware, but capable of working for those of us who don't have that
card...and in some cases are unlikely to get one: I have a VOC which
serves my needs, but in spite of the VOC, most of my A][ computing is NOT
graphics intensive. I'll spring for a high-speed modem first. Then when
my Vulcan dies or runs out of space, I'll need to get a power supply, SCSI
card, and bigger hard drive. The need for VGA graphics on my IIgs is a
long way off.
: I don't mean to sound harsh, but... buy one. The II developers are
: working their asses off for a reason, and they should be supported. If
: we want the II to be pushed into the 21st century, we have to push the
: II. Take advantage of the new hardware. If you can't afford it, then start
: saving. It may take awhile, but it's worth it. Again, please don't take
: this the wrong way.
Agreed, to a point. Recall that part of the reason some of us have stuck
with the ][ is because the ][ does what we want. We're not all big
multimedia power users (with our multimedia machines...) who need that
capacity.
That said, if I didn't have a use for my VOC...or if the VOC accessory for
the Second Sight were shipping...I would consider buying one. It's just
that I still have this 2400 baud modem to deal with...
