Actually, I would say it depends on the monitor used. I have a NEC 
MultiSync 5FG connected to both a PC and my GS. On the PC, every time it 
switches graphics resolution, it bounces like the GS does (though perhaps 
not as violently, because everytime that happens it's usually black 
screen--but it does happen like that when switching for text modes). I 
think these bounces are caused by the monitor "re-syncing;" while the 
details of that goes beyond my comprehension, I think all these bounces 
will happen on a monitor that supports multiple sync frequencies (whatever 
that means). Am I making sense? :-)
