Another Vendor Lost?

Hello fellow Apple ][ers.

I don't usually have much to contribute to the group but just felt like
posting to lament the apparent loss of another vendor.

When I got home last night I found the Fall '95 Quality Computers (now
Scantron QC) catalog in my mailbox. Natuarally I'm always happay to get
anything to do with the Apple ][. Well the happiness didn't last long.
Flipping through the pages (and scanning the vendor/product lists) I found
that virtually every Apple][ specific product has been removed. The only
real Apple ][ products left were AppleWorks 5.0 (bundled with some TimeOut
applications) and the Apple ][ High speed SCSI card. Not even the latest
and hottest product (SecondSight) was mentioned. (Perhaps the folks from
Sequential would like to comment.)

Reading the "Message From the President" in the front of the catalog,. he
seeks to reasure QCs customers that now that they are owned by Scantron,
things will only get better. It also seems clear that Scantron/QC is
interested in selling complete network systems to schools as well as
promoting theLINQ. The Apple ][ apparently can no longer be squeezed into
their corporate organizational chart.

It seemed most people on this group were a little worried when it was
announced that QC was being bought by Scantron. It seems our worries were
not unfounded.

And so it goes (apologies to Linda Ellerbie)
