Copy ][ Plus has a drive speed test that should work for calibrating the 
drives. Just about any computer store should have drive cleaning disks. 
There are dry versions and wet versions. I prefer the wet ones that you 
apply cleaning solution to the special disk and then run it in the drive 
for about 30 seconds.
