WANTED: Apple /// system disk, + a little help
As some of you may remember from a few months ago...
I'm hooking up an old Apple /// with an Imagewriter II for a simple
"message board" in our house.
Unfortunately, I heard a lot of people say how much like the Apple //e
it was and thought I could just hit [RESET] to write BASIC programs.
Nope. I did figure out to hit [ctrl]-[OA]-[reset] to get the little
arrow prompt, but it won't take any commands or programming from there.
So I need a little help getting started there... I just have a 14-line
BASIC program I want to run to print messages to the printer.
Which brings up another little question: when I get to the BASIC
programming mode, will the old PR#1 and PR#0 and other Apple ][ commands
work as they did on the actual Apple ]['s?
And last, but not least, I would like to get a simple system disk from
somebody so I can save the program on it, preferably as the "Hello"
program, or whatever the Apple /// uses. I can't really just download
anything since I have no modem or interface for the Apple ///, and no
5.25" disk drive on my Mac. And of course the IBM-clones can't do the
Apple DOS. So I simply need to buy one for a reasonable price, plus
shipping, of course. And if possible, I'd like instructions on how to
make the little program the Hello program.
Thanks!
