ACE 100 info
Hello-
Can someone give me some information on the Franklin ACE 1000 computer?
I came across one at a local surplus store the other day and it looked
in fairly good shape.
What I do know about the ACE 1000 is that it was suppose to be Apple II
compatible, have CPM capabilities like the II line, and drive a composite
monitor.
If at all possible, I'd like answers to the following questions:
- Just HOW compatible is it to the Apple II line?
- Could it emulate a //e or was it only ][ plus compatible?
- What were some of its standard hardware compliments?
--Such as maximum memory, ROM, CPU, etc...
- Is it possible to use hardware from an ACE 1000 on an Apple
(such as a drive and controller) and vice-versa?
I remember when the ACE 1000 first came out, Apple took them to court to
have it taken off the market. Perhaps that had a lot to do with its
early demise.
Any answers to my questions or any other information on this
system would be greatly appreciated. The system I saw had two drives and
the store is asking $30 (US) for it and, I think, a monitor. Is it worth it?
Thanks-
dickey
