Parallel printers are no problem. Worst case he will have to go
out and buy a serial/parallel card. In Winnipeg you may be able to find
them from $40.00 to $80.00 depending on the bells and whistles. In fact I
recommend he do this simply to save time and frustration. He will also
have to buy a different printer cable $5.00.
The reverse is also true. If he wanted to take a parallel printer
from an IBM and move it to his //e there would be no problem. Since he
already has the parallel card and cable it would be simple.
I have a similar situation. I use my printer on both an Apple and
a PC. I have the cables from both machines going into a switch box. From
the switch box it goes to the printer. The whole setup works fine for me.
The same setup works for MODEMs as well.
