Ninjaforce & Second Sight

Dear Jawaid,

here are our (Ninjaforce) statements to your comments on
Clue's article.

>Mr. "Siegfried" (if that is his real name), notes all
>the negative points of the article without mentioning
>a single positive point(of which there are _many_) in
>the article.

First of all, my (Clue) real name is Christopher Heck. And
yes, I only mentioned the negative aspects of Second Sight. I
just wondered how Steve came to the conclusion that the Second
Sight was an amazing piece of hardware given the negative
aspects he also mentioned in his review. So I poked a little
fun (and criticism) on it, not more.

Also, Jawaid, we (Ninjaforce) think there has to be a
discussion about the negative aspects of Second Sight, because
there ARE negative aspects You don't mention in all your ads
because you want to sell this board, which is understandable.
There are positive aspects as well, but for US the bad sides
outweight the positive sides. We just don't like spending
$200 for a beta version of a hardware (nor do we like spending
any bucks for beta versions of software, but sadly this
behaviour is becoming more and more significant in the GS
market these days), that's it.

>Thus, he makes it appear that Steve Disbrow (reviewer)
>is off his rocker. This is a childish attack of
>Steve's integrity, which I have always found to be of
>sterling character - Steve tells it like it is, in all
>the reviews he does. I have never seen him pull
>punches for _any_ reason.

Oh come on, you can't be serious on this, can you? I (Clue
again) was a subscriber of GS+ Magazine, and I enjoyed Steve's
critical style of writing very much. My article is sarcastic
criticism, and I didn't want to hurt anyone's integrity with
it. How could I, why should I? So Diz, if you ever read this:
Continue with GS+, continue supporting the GS, continue with
your style of writing!

>If Ninjaforce isn't interested in Second Sight, well,
>that's their loss. A number of important Apple II
>programmers and companies have pledged their support
>of Second Sight, and the success of the product will
>be determined by these companies, not a bunch of sour
>grapes that would probably be better off writing PC
>software for an uncaring market.

Right now, it is true that we (Ninjaforce) are not interested
very much in developing for Second Sight. This is due to the
current state of the board, and we are also very skeptical
about the situation of the GS market. However, if the board
gets better and there appear some neat Second Sight specific
applications (and not just another picture viewer) or a
patched QuickDraw so that even the average user has a REAL
reason to buy a Second Sight, we might change our attitude.

And no, we won't switch to the PC to write software because of
exactly the reason you mentioned. We are realistic about that,
in contrary to some guys on IRC you know quite well... On
the other hand, if we want to leave the GS, we would do it,
instead of complaining about it.

We are no "sour grapes", thank you!
