It doesn't?
I've had my IIgs on for the better part of this month with no signs of
trouble, and Mom leaves her ][e on all the time...though in both cases
it's standard procedure to shut the monitor off. My GS has a System Saver
GS AND the built-in fan in the Vulcan, and doesn't have anything (i.e. the
monitor) sitting on top. The ][e doesn't even have a fan, but then it's
pretty empty (with a parallel card, 64k 80-column board, and Disk ][
controller)
I can't think of any reason why the ][ would want to be shut down. The
6502 runs pretty cool. It's those 80n86's that cook themselves to death!
