Apples forever!
I decided to post this after reading many posts on the same subject -
how long can the Apple II go on? I hope it will create a discussion
on the feasability of *long term* Apple II usage.
Anyway, see what you think :)
News article from BYTE electronic magazine, 2995 AD
Washington - A relic from the beginning of computer history was unearthed
today. It appeared to be a computer called 'Apple'. Scientists believe
that this was named so early man knew what the first letter of the alphabet
was. They believe it supercedes a previous artifact known as 'IBM', which
scientists believe had been incorrectly labelled from 'ABC'. After
consultations with a local gadget museum and the INFE (Institute of Non-
Fusion Electricians), a suitable power source was attached, and the
display output socket (Yes, singular in those days apparently) rigged to a
GE MitsuSony HoloSet. The phrase 'Apple //e' was seen to appear above
the ancient, crumbling case. Unfortunately, the scientists were unable
to communicate further with the 1000 year old relic, but the singular
phrase shall be emblazoned in the Washington Science and History
Museum's HoloLab throughout the month of July. A member of WorldNet's
comp.sys.apple2 newsgroup was reported to have offered $1m for the
item. He was quoted as saying "Yeah, but only if it has a Superdrive
and a Second Sight card".
