AppleTalk is a set of communications protocols. The wiring system is
called "LocalTalk". LocalTalk and PhoneNet are operationally
identical, just using different cabling and drop boxes. AppleTalk
runs happily over either (I'm using a PhoneNet equivalent to link my
two IIgses and ImageWriter II, and a Mac on rare occasions).

The IIgs can access a Mac file server (either running AppleShare or
System 7 with File Sharing), but there is no software that allows a
IIgs to act as a server.

Short of writing your own software, all you can use AppleTalk for is
to access a Mac-based file server or print server, or networked
printers.

Hardly likely, even if you could get the computers to talk to each other.
