- Summary: looking for patches for Applewriter 2.1
Recently, I have begun to take a second look at the P8 wordprocessor
Applewriter. Since I got my first //e in 1984, I have used various
incarnations of this program. I used 2.1 to write my 140 page
master's thesis a couple years ago. I do use AW4.3 and find it very
useful.
But, just for the sake of returning to an old friend, I would
like to update Applewriter 2.1 a little. I have applied patches that
were created by Don Thompson--they're great and should be useful when
I begin to do some WPL programming again.
Unfortunately, in Applewriter 2.1, the user is limited to editing
documents that are only 46,845 characters long (roughly 20 typed
pages). So, I am looking for patches that will allow me to use the
available GS memory, slinky memory cards, or bank-swtiched memory
cards.
I know that Chester Page has created patches specifically for the GS,
including one that expands the use of GS memory (GSAW.MAKER.SHK). I
don't know if patches were ever made for slinky or bank-switched mem.
I have been unable to locate any of the Chester Page patches
on GEnie, GRIND, CalTech, or UMich. I heard they were once on AOL but
I do not have access there.
If anyone has any of these patches, or _any_ interesting Applewriter
patches, please post here or Email me.
