Farewell IIGS

This is my farewell to the IIGS world.  Read it if you wish, delete it if
you wish.  I don't care any more!

What I've seen happening (IMHO) is a complete state of disharmony and
disorder with the IIGS, its users, developers and followers; the flames,
ragging, lack of respect, ignorant and egotistical Usenet postings, etc.,
which just keep getting more and more bazaar, the bickering, the hate, the
lack of cooperation, the intensity of self-centered craving for glory,
fame and praise, are all beyond my abilities to understand or deal with
any more! 

A list of the many responses I've received during the past week by email,
follows, with my personal reply and farewell to each.  The majority of
them were positive, asking me to stay with the IIGS World.  However, I
just can't continue with any efforts for the IIGS any longer.  I can't
deal with watching it all fall apart, realizing that I can't do anything
more to help make things any better.  

During the past 3 years, I've spent a vast amount of money, time and
effort, trying to do what I felt could help the IIGS users.  I tried to
give them all I had available to give them. Everything I did was for
FREE!   I've given it all my best and that just wasn't good enough.  

Sorry everybody, I tried and I failed.  So, I'm giving all of my IIGS' 
the software and hardware up for good.  1 World Software Wizards (1WSW),
OmniSoft Research Lab (OSRL) and Dr. Tom are all history.  The IIGS world
can now officially consider;1WSW, OSRL and myself out-of-here.  I hope
everything works out for the best with the IIGS, all its users and
developers. Goodbye and GOOD LUCK!

Don't give up programming on the II GS.  Please continue as long
as you are able to.  BTW, do you have a listing of programs that
you have posted to Caltech?

After careful consideration, much effort and a multitude of rejection,
ridicule and with the never-ending negative attitudes from the current
ruling elitist, that now seem to control all that goes on in the Apple IIGS
World, It's all over for me and the IIGS.  Everything, I seem to upload to
Caltech, never remains for very long there anyway.  Everything, I've ever
uploaded can be found within the 1WSW folder on GRIND!  If you want any of
it, look for it there.

Dear Sir;

Although I'm not sure what the problem is here, I don't think this is a 
general thing. Mr. (SARCASM) Dkeith<whatever> is obviously a jerk. He's 
attempting to ruin something good (comp.sys.apple2 and the caltech 
archives) because he's a disturbed personality.

Don't worry about people like him. He's annoying, but harmless in the 
long run. Just send mail to his administrator. Maybe they'll actually do 
something about him. There was a similar problem over in alt.sex.stories. 
This was taken care of by notifying the administrator of the problem. 
Presto, no more AOL account.

I'm not normally one to get involved in shouting matches, but...

a)  I don't want to see anyone quit the beloved ][ world.  Not you, not
anyone else.

b)  I think the all-caps message (not yours, the one you were responding
to) was uncalled-for and unwarranted and all that $#!+.  If he doesn't
like reading certain messages, that's what the "N" key (or whatever his
newsreader uses) is for.  If he doesn't like seeing stuff on caltech, he's
more than welcome to *not* download it.  Crimenently!

Can we get back to preserving the Apple ][ now?

I've done all I could to preserve the Apple ][.  There's nothing more I'm
able to do.  My efforts seem to do more harm than good. So, goodbye and
thanks for the kind reply.  I wish you well with your adventures in the
Apple ][ World Forever.  Mine are over !
