The Latest GS+ Magazine is on the Way!

Attention GS+ Magazine Subscribers:

The Latest Issue of GS+ Magazine is on the Way!

I'm happy to announce that as of 6/27/95, all copies of
the latest issue of GS+ Magazine V6.N6 (July-August 1995)
have been mailed and are on their way to you!

Once again, the new issue of GS+ Magazine is packed tight with
scads of great stuff just for your IIGS! This issue has four
programs, four product reviews, two great feature articles and
the usual assortment of great departments!

This issue's feature program is an update to our very popular
program, MIDI Surgeon. This is an application that allows you
to take a "raw" MIDI song file and convert it into a MIDI Synth
song that you can play on your IIGS! The new version of MIDI
Surgeon improves on the original by speeding up the process of
translating MIDI files and by providing you with several new
"surgery" options that you can use to fine-tune the MIDI Synth
files that you create. (You can also use MIDI Surgeon to
perform surgery on your old MIDI Synth songs.) MIDI Surgeon's
surgery options allow you transpose notes, remove unused notes,
change the velocity (volume) of notes, move notes from one
track or channel to another, and more! Best of all, you do
NOT need to have ANY MIDI hardware to use MIDI Surgeon! All
you need is your IIGS and some MIDI (or MIDI Synth) songs
that you want to hear!

The other three programs in this issue all work together to
help make your Alias files more useful and powerful:

The first of these programs is a Finder extension called
DocAlias. As the name implies, DocAlias lets you create
aliases for the one kind of file that EasyMount won't:
documents. To use DocAlias, you simply select a document
file (like a Teach file or an AppleWorks GS database file)
and then pick "Make Document Alias" from the Finder's Extras
menu. Once the alias is created, you use it simply by
double-clicking on it! DocAlias will then figure out which
application to launch and pass the document to it!

Next is an update to our Find Original Finder extension.
This new version allows you to find the original file that
is pointed to by either an EasyMount alias or a DocAlias
alias.

Of course, all of these neat alias files are useless
unless you actually have EasyMount or DocAlias installed.
So, for those times when you don't have these extensions
installed, we've written Launch Alias. Launch Alias is
an application that does exactly what its name says:
it launches aliases! For example, if you shift-boot
(which will keep both EasyMount and DocAlias from being
installed), and you double-click on an alias file in the
Finder, Launch Alias will run, figure out what the alias
you double-clicked on points to, and then run the
appropriate application!

Also in this issue, you'll find reviews of the following
products:

ANSITerm v2.12: If you aren't happy with the ANSI emulation
in either ProTerm or Spectrum, this IIIGS-specific
telecommunications program might be just what you've been
looking for!

The Golden Orchard Apple II CD-ROM: Want an instant collection
of Apple IIGS shareware and freeware? This new disc MIGHT be
exactly what you need....

The Iomega Zip Drive: Does it work with the IIGS? Sure it
does! But, what problems will you run into? Our in-depth
review tells you exactly what to expect when using this
great new drive with your IIGS.

The Second Sight VGA Video Card: It's finally out! The
Second Sight VGA Video Card opens up a whole new world of
video options for the IIGS... but is replacing your current
monitor worthwhile? Exactly what can (and can't) the Second
Sight card do for your IIGS?

As if that weren't enough great stuff, we've also got a special
"Mr. Priceguide" article that tells you everything you need to
know when shopping for that new VGA monitor to go with your
Second Sight card!

This issue also contains our usual assortment of letters,
the GS+ FAQ File, info on new IIGS products, and, of course,
a selection of the finest and most inflammatory IIGS rumors.
