I'd much prefer to do this in email, but that doesn't seem to be
   too possible:

   ---

   % nslookup dscmail.com
   Server: piccolo.cco.caltech.edu
   Address: 131.215.48.151

*** No address (A) records available for dscmail.com

Anybody feeling qualified to use tools such as nslookup should be
*required* to first read and understand appropriate documentation:

$ nslookup -q=mx dscmail.com.
dscmail.com preference = 0, mail exchanger = nova.voicenet.com
nova.voicenet.com internet address = 192.204.28.5

If you don't know what this means I recommend an introductory book as
"DNS and BIND in a Nutshell" from the highly acclaimed Nutshell
Handbook series by O'Reilly & Associates.

Tell your sysadmins to get a valid IP address in the internet
nameservers if you want to get email in return.

Nonsense !

						   When trying to send
email to you now, since the IP address of 'dscmail.com' is
   unavailable, mail just bounces.

Mail to alvin.polanco@dscmail.com might bounce (I didn't check it),
but not at all for this reason; if you really get an error because
dscmail.com is believed to be unknown then your message transfer agent
is unbelievable broken or misconfigured and simply can't be used for
Internet mail in its current shape.

A common reason for this on SunOS 4 hosts (as accord.cco.caltech.edu)
and some similar systems is the use of /usr/lib/sendmail, which (as
installed) won't handle MX resource records, and should therefore be
replaced with /usr/lib/sendmail.mx if it isn't configured to send all
non-local mail through a well-managed mail exchanger. Replacing here
means
	mv /usr/lib/sendmail /usr/lib/sendmail.no-mx
	mv /usr/lib/sendmail.mx /usr/lib/sendmail
