Then protest. Granted, just collecting protests gets a bit stale after
a while, and a complex community such as the net has to thrive on more
than just "I'm against it", subtle strategies are asked for. In the
meantime, mass protest can pave the way.

There's a web page at http://www.cdt.org/petition.html that is
collecting signatures against the act (and for a counter-proposal),
backed by people like the EFF, CDT, NPTN, et al: almost 64k (over
65000) people have signed so far. Not really terribly impressive, I
have to say ... the people I spoke to think this kind of protest is
"pointless". I wonder what they think to be useful, though.
