The ][+ shipped with Applesoft & Disk ][ startup in ROM. The ][ shipped
with Integer basic and manual startup in ROM. Most of the differences in
the motherboards themselves are minor improvements and streamlining the
hardware; these generally don't affect the environment the software sees.

The ROMs could work in either machine, and could be put on a ROM card in slot
0 so you had both ROMs available. This ROM card has a long red switch handle
on the back. Flip it down to get the motherboard ROMs, and up to get the
card's ROMs. You'll need to reset the machine or power it up after changing
the switch.

Machines that shipped as Apple ][+ had a little green "plus" on their
faceplate. If yours doesn't have that but it boots Applesoft, then you
probably have an activated ROM card in slot 0 or somebody upgraded the
motherboard ROMs.
