Why design special apps for the SS? Once the patched Quickdraw comes out
then many of our current desktop apps can use the higher resolution
(possibily with a few bytes that need changing). I see this
being a higher probability of happening than a COMPLETELY new major
program being designed. If a desktop app completely used tools and
not fiddle with the screen directly, then it should work with a
modified Quickdraw with no problems. I don't see why people can't
see this as a possibility.
Once the Quickdraw-SS developer's notes are out, then extra color
can be supported (i.e. a Web browser). Until then, I think a 16-color
640x400 or higher GS desktop is quite possible and many apps can
work at this resolution.
[getting off of soapbox]
I got my SS card from Quality Computers yesterday so these cards are
shipping from them now. The 640x400 interlace mode does not look bad at
all (especially with lots of color). I've seen interlace graphic modes
on PCs that look worse.
