There were two versions, depending on the revision of your ][, my has a
"Paymar" mod which is an add in board with a new character ROM.  Later systems
could be upgraded directly by replacing the ROM on the motherboard.
Shift was done using one of the paddle buttons or in my case a keyboard
that had upper and lower case.
