It depends what you want to do with it. If you need a simple serial
card to connect to a serial printer, then you can probably get by with
any card.
For communications software, the only option you should consider is
the Apple Super Serial Card, or a clone of it. 95% of Apple II comms
software requires this card (though there isn't very much that works
on the II+, and they might be more flexible).
The Super Serial Card (SSC for short) supports software configurable
baud rate, full duplex serial communications and interrupts, unlike
earlier cards from Apple. All of these features are very useful for
comms programs.
