A documented bug of the 6502 was that RDY is ignored on a write cycle (it
works fine for read cycles).

Check the 65816 data sheet "compatibility issues" page. If I remember right,
both the 65C02 (the WDC one) and 65816 fixed the bug, but the 65802 emulates
it when e=1, but behaves as a 65816 in native mode.
