I've got a couple disk drives here, one of which has a 10 turn pot on the speed and a big knob so it can be ever so finitely tweaked. Plus, another of the same that also has a lever on the stepper motor so I can move it in the same way, very minutely. By doing this, I can manually quarter and half track stuff, and vary speed. I've got pretty good results with these things.
