There IS a jpg viewer available via anonymous FTP from 
ftp.cco.caltech.edu.  It is a bit slow (even on a 7MHz GS)
and won't let you save the picture, but it might be that 
these are forthcoming options.  The program's version is 
smaller than 1.0 and comments read like it is pre-release.
