MM>Ok, I'll byte (now) - what is NameFix?
NameFix is that name of a program that uses scripts to patch Apple's OS files
and various 2rd party programs to eliminate the ProDOS-8 naming conventions
(1. Only Letters/Numbers/Periods, 2. First char must be letter).
It is part od the 2Qwk! package. 2Qwk! is an offline mail reader for QWK type
BBS mail packets. Since QWK is an IBM-standard, it was determined that it was
easier to modify the Apple O/S to handle IBM-type filenames rather than
program the mail reader around renamed filenames :)
The only (-) I've seen is that the BASIC.SYSTEM "RUN linenumber" command
results in a "FILE NOT FOUND" since a filename now can be just a number.
