I have the Apple IIc LCD display and it is indeed terrible, but marginally
usable. The C-Vue LCD screen was reputed to be better. I have seen one, but I
have never used one. C-Vue also sold a "portable" 12V battery pack for the
IIc. The computer, screen and battery all fit in a nice padded case, and with
the charger weighed well over 10 pounds. 

Of course, the need to carry a sizeable 12V battery prevents the IIc with LCD
screen from being truly portable, but it is usable in a vehicle. If anyone has 
an LCD display collecting dust, you'll have no trouble selling it, despite its 
poor performance. I wouldn't part with mine.
