Re: RamFast + Iomega Zip drive?
The Iomega ZIP drive is not bernoulli or floptical or magneto-
optical. It uses the Winchester type mechanism of hard disks
and syquests, but in a different package. The ZIP drive is blue,
about 7.5", by 5.5, by 1.75", and uses media only slightly
larger than a 3.5" disk. The cartridges hold 100 MB, with
25 MB cartridges coming soon. I have used the ZIP drive on
an Apple IIGS with an Apple HighSpeed SCSI and with a RamFAST.
No problems at all on the RamFAST, two "unable to read the
disk in drive xyz" on the HS, but I think that is due to the
invisible driver partition on the disk (I was using a Mac
formatted cartridge for the test since that was all I had at
the time). I have also mounted the ZIP drive on the GS desktop
via AppleShare while it was attached to a Mac with System 7
File Sharing. I am hoping to attempt a format with both the
RamFAST utilities and ADU this weekend, now that I have some
extra cartridges.
