I just tried a similar operation on my ROM 3 (to a PC Transporter in
slot 7; the PCT is also a "slinky" RAM card) and it worked fine - the
files stayed there after returning to GS/OS.

What program selector are you using?  Perhaps _it_ is wiping the
slinky RAM disk.
