The drives themselves can read 720k IBM disks.
How do you think a PCT on a ][gs can read/write 720k disks
using the same Apple drive for 800k ProDOS/HFS disks?
The drives are designed to read both type of encoding schemes.
Also, GS/OS could care less about what encoding scheme you use,
in fact, it can read IBM disks directly. the problem is
that the gs's smartport refuses to read/write MFM.
The problem is not in the drives, it's the interface.
if your dead set on using the drive for 720k's, buy
a second hand PCT.
