Apple II Emulation Conference
You are invited to join us in an Apple II emulation conference, this
Wednesday evening on IRC. The authors of most of the popular emulators
will be there. This will be a great place to get your questions answered,
suggest new features, and meet other people who are involved in Apple
emulation.
For authors and other people who are interested in the inner workings of
Apple emulators, this will also be a great place to share technical
information and to develop cross-platform standards.
The conference will take place Wednesday at 6:00 PM Pacific Time, 9:00 PM
Eastern. That's Thursday morning at 10:00 in Hong Kong; 12:00 noon in
Sydney, Australia. It will be in the Undernet channel #emul. For more
detailed information on IRC, the Undernet, and how to connect, read on.
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
IRC is a service that allows people from all over the globe to chat in
real time. To use IRC, you must connect to a local IRC server, which in
turn is networked with other servers all over the world.
There are two major networks of IRC servers; one is called EFnet and the
other is called Undernet. I have chosen to hold the conference on the
Undernet, because it is less prone to "net splits" and it has more
reliable telnet access.
Some IRC client programs are configured to automatically connect to
EFnet; others are configured to connect to the Undernet. If you do not
know which network your client connects to, you can use the /server
command to force it to connect to the Undernet. While running IRC, just
type "/server servername", using a server name from the table below.
If you don't have an IRC client program, don't worry. You can connect to
the Undernet using telnet. Just telnet to one of the sites listed in
the telnet access list below.
After connecting to the Undernet using an IRC client or telnet, enter the
command "/join #emul" to join us in the emulation chat channel.
